– Sunday was the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade (via motherjones)
(Name droppy brag - I’m sorry: I’ve actually met Sarah Weddington, who became at 26 one of the youngest people to ever win a court case before the Supreme Court for Roe v. Wade. Besides being awesome, she was also super...

Huh. Food for thought should I ever go back to the States to pursue some sort of tech thingy.

Goals for 2012!
I’m not really one to make New Year’s resolutions – for some reason, it irks me to think that I NEED to set goals because of some arbitrary date – but lately, I can’t really stop going over and over what I want to do with the rest of the school year. Like, actually over and over – obsessively repeating a list of things I want to accomplish and mentally wondering how to fit it in – to the point of...

"I'll bet you $10,000." →
Blah blah, the back story is that Romney said something and then totally pretended he didn’t say it when called out on it. That’s standard political maneuvering by this point in time for just about everyone out there so there’s not that much point in going into exactly what he said… but this reply for when a politician, or any person that engages you in some sort of...

Stat of the day. (More where that came from here.)
Merry Christmas and a Happy Boxing Day Eve, Tumblr.
Yay! Tumblr finally started working again for me sometime before today - it’s a Christmas miracle (though, I guess I should mention that today’s the first time I’ve checked it in a good two weeks).
Anyhow, I wanted to point this out and say that I’m...

I will take B&N Nook credit as my shoulders are now too weak to carry real books.
(On a side note, looking at all of these and then looking at my currently unfinished book list has really emphasized how little time I actually have to read. :( The last time I finished a book was waiting in line at the UK visa office in China. I wonder if whatever job I get after this masters will give me more...

My Tumblr has become a twitter feed
Which I guess is inevitable when 1) you dont have a lot of time and 2) what time you have is spent trying to catch up on all the trillions of feeds you have going. It’s so much easier to just forward something along, essentially like-buttoning it and hoping that’s enough to remind people “hey! I’m still here and I still think about things!”
But I’m beginning...

Climate blame: send for the lawyers - There's a... →
“Evidence that links climate change to the deaths of tens of thousands of people and billions of dollars in damage would concentrate minds. But it might be a game changer in other ways. In the absence of a global deal by governments, private litigants may take up cudgels. Just as people with cancer led the charge against tobacco companies, so the victims of climate disasters might...

New York magazine has a really, really excellent piece on modern feminism, and particularly, feminist and female voices on the internet. They provide an abridged list of such blogs, but I thought I’d let you know who some of the important lady bloggers here on Tumblr you should be…

The Confusatory: Generation X Can Get Bent →
cbowns:
I’ve had a lot of drafts floating in my head about how badly the world is broken, and how fixing it will require my parents’ generation getting the hell out of the way. Now that a snippy little post called Generation X Doesn’t Want to Hear It is making its rounds, it’s as good a…
